marbofloxacin- 100 mg;

Excipients: gluconolactone, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties

АТСvet Index QJ01 - antibacterials for systemic use. QJ01МА93 – Marbofloxacin.

Marbofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Marbofloxacin has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action to inhibit bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, involved in DNA replication of microorganisms. Marbofloxacin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including: Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Brucella canis, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., а також Mycoplasma spp.

After parenteral administration at a dose of 2 mg/kg marbofloxacin is well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates most organs and tissues. Marbofloxacin bioavailability is more than 80%. The maximum marbofloxacin concentration in blood plasma (about 0.5 mcg/ml in piglets and 1 mcg/ml in calves) is reached after 0.5-1.5 hours. Marbofloxacin is weakly bound to plasma proteins (10% in swine and 30% in cattle). The concentration of marbofloxacin in organs is higher than the concentration in blood plasma. The half-life in calves is 5-9 hours, in cattle with functionally developed pancreas - 4-7 hours, in swine - 8-10 hours. Therapeutic concentration is maintained for 48 hours. Marbofloxacin is excreted primarily unchanged.

Administration

Cattle: treatment of animals suffering from acute mastitis during lactation caused by E. coli, as well as respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to marbofloxacin.

Swine: treatment of animals suffering from MMA (mastitis-metritis-agalactia) syndrome, as well as respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to marbofloxacin.

Dosage

Cattle: subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight (2 mg of marbofloxacin per 1 kg of body weight) once a day for 3-5 days. In the treatment of mastitis, the dose is 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight (2 mg of marbofloxacin per 1 kg of body weight) once a day for 3 days. The first injection can be given intravenously.

Swine: intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight (2 mg of marbofloxacin per 1 kg of body weight) once a day for 3 days.

When administering the drug in excess of 20 ml, it is recommended to enter in several places, not more than 10 ml in one place.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to marbofloxacin.

Do not use in animals with severe renal and hepatic disorders.

Do not use for quinolone-resistant strains of pathogenic microorganisms.

Do not administer in combination with with tetracycline drugs, erythromycin, chloramphenicol, and theophylline.

Precautions

Side effect

If the drug is administered in recommended doses, side effects do not appear.
