powder for oral administration

Description

Light-brown powder.

Composition

1 g of the drug contains:

active ingredients: salinomycin sodium – 110 mg; diclazuril – 2 mg;

excipient - calcium carbonate.

Pharmacological properties

ATC vet QP51 - antiprotozoals. QP51AH01 - salinomycin. QP51AJ03 - diclazuril.

The effect of Salimix®Plus is based on salinomycin sodium and diclazuril properties.

Salinomycin is an eimeriostatic of the ionophore group. It is effective against eimeriae (E. acervulina, E. tenella, E. brunetti, E. maxima, E. necatrix, E. mivati, E. meleagridis, E. meleagrimitis, E. bovis) at the stages of the first generation sporozoites, trophozoites and schizoites. It is also effective against gram-positive microorganisms, anaerobes and Serpulina (Treponema) hyodysenteriae. The drug inhibits transport of Na+ and К+ monovalent ions through cell membrane of a single-cell parasite, resulting in its death.

Diclazuril is an eimeriostatic of the ionophore group. It is effective against all eimeria types in poultry (E. acervulina, Е. brunetti, Е. maxima, Е. mitis, Е. necatris, Е. tenella, Е. adenoeides, Е. gallopavonis, Е. Meleagrimitis,, etc.), rabbits (Е. flavescens, Е. intestinalis, Е. magna, Е. perforans, Е. Stiedai,, etc.), cattle, sheep, goats, inhibiting metabolic processes of their endoenic development. Asexual forms of endogenic cycle of coccidia development are the most sensitive to diclazuril.

Administration

Treatment and prevention of eimeriosis in hens (broiler chickens, pullets up to 12 weeks old), in cattle, sheep and goats (calves, lambs and goatlings with developed fore stomachs), as well as eimeriosis and isosporosis in swine.

Dosage

The drug is fed with feed throughout the feeding period in the following doses:

- hens (broiler chickens, pullets) – 500 g of the drug per 1 t of feed (0.5 g of the drug per 1 kg of feed);

- swine under 4 months old – 250-500 g of the drug per 1 t of feed;

- swine of 4-6 months old – 250 g of the drug per 1 t of feed;

- young cattle stock and sheep (calves and lambs 3 weeks old and above) – 84-250 g of the drug per 1 t of feed.

Salimix® Plus drug is thoroughly mixed with feed. It is recommended to mix it with 3-10 % of the total feed first, then mix the resulting mixture with the remaining feed.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to salinomycin and diclazuril.

Do not administer to laying hens. Do not give to calves and lambs with underdeveloped fore stomachs. Do not prescribe in combination with other anticoccidial drugs. It is forbidden to administer Salimix® Plus in combination with tiamulin as well as in 7 days prior to and in 7 days following its administration. Do not administer to horses and other odd-toed animals.

Precautions

Non-uniform drug mixing with feed, uneven consumption of medicated feed (hungry, ill animals) as well as excess of recommended drug concentrations in feed may in certain cases result in decrease in animal productivity and even in presence of clinical intoxication signs.

Animal slaughter for meat is possible in 5 days following the last drug administration.
